HolidayCardHopWelcome

Welcome!!  You’ve probably just arrived from Connie Babbert’s blog as you travel through our Week 1 Blog Hop for the Holiday Card “Create”tions session!  She’s so incredibly awesome and I’m glad to be associated with the “Create With Connie and Mary” team.  At the end of each week during this session, the designers are putting together a blog hop to showcase some fun products in the Holiday Catalogue for you!  It’s not too late to join this Holiday Card “Create”tion – just visit Create With Connie and Mary to sign up and view the card sets from week 1!

This week, we are experimenting with the Takeout Boxes featured on page 10 of the Holiday Catalogue and designing a fall/Halloween project.  As with each Saturday Blog Hop Challenge, he Takeout Boxes Challenge is for everyone to see!  Here’s what I made:

Holiday Cards 2014 Challenge Week 1-3

How cute it this?!  I’m in love with the mummies, the banner on the front and especially the acetate specialty card in front of the orange cardstock.  And the box itself holds SO many little treats!  I’m going to put mine up around my front door for any visitors that might stop by in October. 🙂

To make this project, I assembled the takeout box but cut off three of the top flaps leaving one of the larger ones attached.   Then I attached a piece of black cardstock to the front and back of this flap to create a base for my accessories.

I created decorative panels for the sides and front of the box with black cardstock and Sahara sand DSP.

The mummies are various sizes of Sahara Sand circles cut with the Circles Framelits and the Big Shot.  I cut thin strips of white cardstock and layered them over the circles leaving space for some eyes to peek through.  The eyes were made with various circle punches.

The remaining embellishments are all from the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Accessory Pack.  This is found on page 35 of the Holiday Catalogue.  I’ve found it to be a handy tool in creating some fall/Halloween/Christmas projects!  And by using this kit, it was so easy to quickly put this project together with coordinating supplies!!

CWCM Summer 2014 Week 4 Challenge

Posted by: | Comments (2)

SummerpromobadgeAnd just like that – it’s over.  Time sure does go by fast when you’re having fun!  The 4 week session of Create With Connie and Mary Summer 2014 is now over.  I’m so grateful for the subscribers and the kind notes they leave on our project posts – THANK YOU!  I hope you have many project tutorials lined up to make this summer with new products from our Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue.

And as always, the session ends with a designer challenge…

…A color challenge:

CCMCSUMMER14-04

Here’s how I used these colors:

CCMCSUMMER14-WEEK 4-2

These three colors immediately made me think “masculine” which made me in turn, think of the new stamp set “Traveler”.  I think it’s the perfect combo!!

Surprisingly, I did not use any other neutral color on this card like Whisper White or Very Vanilla.  I stamped the main images directly onto Sahara Sand using Early Espresso ink.  A bit of blue and green color was added to the main image with a Blender Pen and then all pieces were antiqued with their coordinating ink color.

Supplies used:

Stamps – Traveler, Itty Bitty Banners

Ink & Paper – Sahara Sand, Mossy Meadow, Lost Lagoon, Early Espresso, Moonlight DSP

Accessories – Big Shot & Bitty Banners framelit, Argyle embossing folder, mini brads, dimensionals

Visit  Create With Connie and Mary to see what my fellow designers created with these colors.  Have a wonderful summer!

Summerpromobadge

We are through Week one of Create With Connie and Mary Summer Collection and it has been awesome!!  I’ve enjoyed all the projects that the designers have shared.  It’s so fun to see how the new products in the catalogue are being used.

We are finishing up the week with our first challenge – a sketch challenge!

CCMCSUMMER14-01

Here’s what I created with this sketch and some NEW catalogue products:

CCMCSUMMER14-WEEK 1

I used my newest favorite stamp set for this card – Flower Patch!  When I first previewed the catalogue, I couldn’t take my eyes off this set!  And for it to have matching framelits – Whooooeeeee!  SO AWESOME!

Also new, I took a  patterned paper from the All Abloom DSP package and the color combo idea which includes Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride, and Strawberry Slush.

Supplies used:

Stamps – Flower Patch

Ink & Paper – Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Whisper White, All Abloom DSP, Basic Black

Accessories – Big Shot & Flower Fair fraemlits, bakers twine, pearl accents

Now go check out the Create With Connie and Mary site to see what the other designers created with this sketch and then create a card for yourself!

CWCM Spring 2014 Challenge – Week 4

Posted by: | Comments (1)

CCMCSPRING14-challenge-04

That’s a wrap!!  Our final week of Create With Connie and Mary Spring 2014 is now over. 🙁

We are finishing off with a fun color challenge for you though!  Some bold happy colors!

Here’s what I made:

CCMCSPRING14-week 4 challenge sample

I used my new favorite go-to set, Perfect Pennants, to create this card.  I had some fun with the star elements.  I used the kissing technique to create a polka dot pattern on them.  I inked up the star image with some ink and then used the polka dot image and stamped the stamp! HA!  Then I stamped the star onto white cardstock and cut it out.   Repeat!

Head on over to Create With Connie and Mary to see what the other designers created with these colors.

Have a great long weekend!

CWCM Spring 2014 Week 1 Challenge

CWCM Spring promo

Week One has come to an end over at Create with Connie and Mary:  Spring Collection!  And at the end of each week, we end with a card challenge for everyone to join in on!!

This week’s challenge is a sketch challenge and here it is…

CCMCSPRING14-challenge

Here is my card inspired from this sketch:

CCMCSPRING14-week 1 challenge sample

This cute Hello Sailor stamp set was one given to us at the Manager’s Reception at Leadership a couple of weeks ago!  You can find it on page 24 of the Occasions Catalogue for $19.95 (clear) or $25.95 (wood).

I made my card standard size (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) but I cut off 1″ from the front panel to make it shorter than the back panel.  I added a Cherry Cobbler scallop edge onto the front panel for interest.

Everything else on the card is pretty self explanatory BUT you might be interested in how I made the lifesaver element. 🙂  I punched a 1 1/4″ circle from pieces of Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler cardstock.  Toss the actual circles away or use for another project.  Then center the negative circle image from white piece of cardstock and punch again with the 1 3/4″ circle punch.  Repeat with Cherry Cobbler piece of cardstock.  Now you should have two rings – a white and Cherry Cobbler one.  Cut 3 pieces from the Cobbler ring and adhere them to the white ring at equal intervals.  DONE!

Here is the inside of the card:

Supplies used:

Stamps – Hello, Sailor

Ink & Paper – Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Midnight Muse

Accessories – 1 1/4″ & 1 3/4″ circle punches, scallop edge punch, baker’s twine, dimensionals, linen thread

I encourage you to check out the Create with Connie and Mary site today to see what the other designers have made with this sketch as inspiration.   Then make a card of your own and share it with us!
