Catalogue Inspirations #1

Welcome to my first ever “Catalogue Inspirations” posting!  “What is that” you ask?  Here’s the deal – every Thursday, I hope to post a project that I have made which was directly inspired from the pages of current Stampin’ Up! catalogues.  As a demonstrator, I feel very strongly that our catalogues are a valuable source of inspiration for us as paper crafters.  The talented design team at Stampin’ up! has given us hundreds of samples in the catalogues to spark our creativity.  Let’s get started!

Yes, I do know it’s Friday today and not Thursday – not a great start is it???!!!  I had every intention on Wednesday of posting this the next day, but I ended up being out of the house at 7:00 a.m. and not returning for more than an hour until 10:00 p.m.   Hence the reason I’m posting this today!  In future, though, I will post my new feature “Catalogue Inspirations” on Thursdays.   Here’s the first entry:

The sample card I chose to “copy” is from page 10 of the Holiday Mini shown here:

Catalogue sample 24-09-09I love the use of the wheeled image as a focal point and the top note peeking from underneath it.  I am also a sucker for ribbon on cards!  Here is my version:

As you can see, I changed everything but the layout.  I used Night of Navy and Certainly Celery colors and a different stamp wheel and set but left the layout the same. I changed the button to a silk flower with the edges rubbed in Night of Navy ink and finished off with a half white pearl.

Supplies used:

Stamps – Friends 24-7, Friendly Words wheel

Cardstock and Ink – Night of Navy, Certainly Celery, Whisper White

Accessories – scallop edge punch, top note die, Big Shot, piercing tool, Pretties Kit, Night of Navy grograin ribbon

I would love to hear what you think.  Leave me a comment or better yet, send me a photo of a catalogue inspired project, whether it is this same sample or a different one.  I would love to see what you can create!
